Our Mission

Our mission is to make disciples who glorify God in all of life for all the world.

As God’s chosen people, joined together in a local church, we have the joy of participating in God’s work of glorifying himself through Jesus Christ. He calls us to glorify him in every area of life, for the good of all the world.

Our Strategy

Since that work involves making and maturing disciples, living in a culture that opposes God and his people, we must carry a hammer in one hand and a sword in the other. Like those building the wall around Jerusalem in Nehemiah 4:18, our strategy is to build and fight. We desire to build up the household of God and fight against the enemies of God with the hammer and sword of God’s Word.

Our Priorities

We have several priorities that focus our efforts of building and fighting to the glory of God:

1. We love to glorify our sovereign God.

Our pastors treasure and preach the gospel, also known as the doctrines of grace: the good sovereignty of God, and salvation by grace through faith in Christ, who gave himself for his people. We proclaim the gospel not just to the lost but also to ourselves and to each other, for it is vital to know and love the gospel. How we live is downstream from what we believe.

2. We love to worship with serious joy together.

The Bible is our final authority for faith and practice. Therefore, our pastors prioritize historic Protestant orthodoxy, preaching through books of God’s Word in both Testaments in order to build up God’s people. And therefore, we follow the Regulative Principle, only including in our worship service what God expressly commands us to include: we sing the word, pray the word, read the word, preach the word, and see the word (in baptism and the Lord’s Supper). We sing Scripture-saturated songs, both old and new, where God’s truth serves as the kindling to set our hearts ablaze.

3. We love God’s good design for church life.

God has ordained that qualified men lead his church, and so we prayerfully choose godly men whom God has gifted in our congregation to lead us. Membership at Grace doesn’t mean merely having one’s name on a list, but being part of a family who love, encourage, and guard one another under the authority of their elders.

4. We love God’s good design for men, women, and families.

In the face of societal deterioration and cultural compromise, we affirm and rejoice in God’s good design. We encourage husbands to lovingly shepherd their households, and wives to gladly submit to their husband’s leadership. We encourage fathers and mothers to disciple their children by giving them a thoroughly Christian education.

5. We love to spread God’s glory in the gospel.

Since God has called his people to join him in savouring and spreading his glory, we joyfully share the gospel with the lost in our church services, seek to evangelize our neighbours, and give to help church planters and missionaries spread the gospel around the world.

6. We love to follow Christ in all of life.

Our pastors apply the Scriptures to all of life. Since there is no aspect of life for which God does not give us wisdom and authoritative commands in his Word, there must be no aspect of life that lies outside the scope of our pastors’ preaching and counselling. We pursue holiness in every area of our lives. And as salt and light in the world, we seek to do good works before others and so glorify our Father in Heaven. We want to influence our city and our world through hospitality, evangelism, business, arts, literature, politics, and education.

We would like to thank Pastor Andy Naselli and Christ the King Church for their influence on the above statements.
